We deal with these problems in our normal surgeries, but you may be invited to attend a clinic.

Long Term Conditions

We are starting a new service to help people with more than one Long term medical condition to have all their issues dealt with at one clinic. If this applies to you, you will receive an invitation in due course.

Counselling

The practice has a counsellor and attached Community Psychiatric nurse. The doctors refer patients to these when appropriate.

Immunisations

Make sure that you and your family get your full course of immunisations including boosters. If you think you may have missed any tell the nurse. Some travel vaccinations are available from the practice nurse. 
  
School Health offers BCG and Diptheria, tetanus and polio for school leavers.
 
Tetanus and polio boosters: -
Occasionally throughout life, (10 yearly). If you have had 5 tetanus injections in your life, you do not need any more.

We offer flu vaccinations in early autumn for those at risk and we send for these patients.

Pneumococcal vaccination is offered for over 65’s and at risk groups.

The NHS Chiropody Service also takes place in the Medical Centre. Please ring:

Physiotherapy

Mrs Hilary Dickie (MCSP member of HPC)

BollingtonPhysio - Operating from the surgery providing physiotherapy, acupuncture, and sports injury treatment for:

• NHS Patients (through GP referral)
• Private Patients.

BollingtonPhysio is recognised and registered with all the major health insurance companies.

Physiotherapy can be helpful for trapped nerves, sports injuries, muscle and ligament strains, neck, back and other joint problems. Treatments may include joint manipulation, ultra sound, pulsed short wave, acupuncture and exercises. There is always a huge demand for this service and consequently there is a waiting list. Private appointments can be made via reception and are available early mornings and evenings.

Phlebotomy Clinics

As part of routine investigations, the doctor may ask you to make an appointment at reception to have blood taken for blood tests. Please ask at reception to book and appointment.

 

There is also a daily phlebotomy clinic based at Macclesfield District General Hospital however, to attend you will require a blood test form from the doctor.

NHS Health Checks

We are offering patients at our practice health checks with a Health Care Assistant

To qualify for this you would need to fulfil the following criteria:

1.       Aged 40-74

2.       Not had a health check in the last 5 years

3.       Not have any of the following conditions, because you should already be having regular checks at the practice:

·         Established Hypertension

·         Chronic Kidney Disease

·         Familial hypercholesterolemia

·         Atrial Fibrillation

·         Heart Failure

·         Type 1 or type 2 Diabetes

·         Heart disease

·         Stroke

·         TIA

·         Peripheral Vascular Disease

 

The check will comprise:

1.       A cholesterol check

2.       Blood pressure

3.       Pulse check

4.       Height and weight

5.       Questions regarding lifestyle: Alcohol consumption; Smoking status; Physical Activity

 

When the blood test results come back to the surgery the nurse will assess your risk of cardiovascular problems and contact you with the results. You do not need to contact the surgery for these.

 

If you fulfil the criteria above and would like to have a Well Person Check, please make an appointment at the desk with a Health Care Assistant.
